This is a 50-mile loop through “flat to rolling” terrain that first goes north to Cele which was established in the late 19th century and named for Lucille Custer, daughter of the local store owner. The 1891 store itself has been featured as a location in several movies. Then ride east to Elgin which owes its existence to a major flood of the Colorado River in 1869 which caused the railroad to be rerouted through the "city". Please make sure you spend money at the store at the ride start if you avail yourself of their facilities. The "Map" link to the right (if you are signed in) takes you to a cue sheet. A flat ride out east on quiet roads with low traffic. In 1857, James P. Warnock and Joseph T. Mileham erected a mill on the San Gabriel River, and a community gradually formed around it. When residents applied for a post office in the early 1880s, proposed names were rejected by postal officials until "Jonah" was accepted. Jonah was a thriving community of 200 by 1896, when it had two each of mills, cotton gins, general stores, and doctors but was later hit by both floods and fire.

Volente Popsicle

This is (surprise) a Popsicle-shaped route on the northwest of town.  It includes an out-and-back on Old Jollyville, together with the Lime Creek - Volente loop. It is not suitable when heavy boat traffic can be anticipated around Volente. This is likely to be on weekends when lake conditions are favorable. Meet near the Barnes and Noble at the Arboretum but please do not park too close to the retail stores. Distance can easily be increased to about 50+ miles by starting closer in to town.
